For as long as I can remember, animals have been a huge part of my life. I loved wildlife and pets as a child and I grew up with a cat named Gooey and a poodle named Sparkle that had puppies. We kept two of the four puppies, a boy and a girl, named Tuxedo and Twinkle. Years later, I took on a stray poole mix from Oklahoma that my sister found. I named her Pepper and she was the love of my life. They all filled my life with so much joy and made me realize how special animals are and that they deserve the absolute best care. I joined WWVH as a senior in high school September of 2015 as an animal assistant and eventually moved up to reception. Helping animals and getting to know they owners became so special to me. In 2020, I took on a baby opossum that was orphaned named Banjo. I thought I should just try my best but not get my hopes up as I had never done this before and he was only 23 grams. Slowly but surely he did well and stayed in my care into adulthood for 2 years! He was such a unique experience for me and it led me to pursue being a wildlife rehabilitator! I am anticipating my full certification in wildlife rehabilitation by the end of 2024 and am currently volunteering at Motor City Opossum Rescue. I have fostered several orphaned kittens over the years and kept one that is an absolute beauty name Possum (of course). She is a perfect roommate that fills my house with so much laughter and happiness. Aside from my full life with animals, I enjoy reading, going to concerts and spending time with my family.
