Julie A. Cappel, D.V.M. (jacappel@wwvhcares.com) Dr. Cappel graduated from the Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. Originally from Redford, MI, she spent much of her youth and pre-college years working for animal-caring organizations in the Livonia, MI area, which included taking care of horses. Dr. Cappel's love for animals now focuses only with small animals with her special interest being in avian (bird) medicine. She joined WWVH in 1991. Dr. Cappel serves as a council member for the South East Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. She is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarian as well as a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. Outside of managing the WWVH practice, she loves spending time with her dogs (obedience training and flyball), and with her family. |

Jennifer Khalifah, D.V.M. (jkhalifah@wwvhcares.com) Dr. Khalifah graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1997. She grew up in Detroit, MI and continues to live on the East-side of Detroit. She started at WWVH in December 2000 as an associate veterinarian. Prior to coming to WWVH, she practiced small animal medicine for over three years at another local veterinarian hospital in Detroit. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, and South East Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. In addition to veterinary medicine, Dr. Khalifah enjoys cooking and baking, and taking care of her cat Winston. |

Therese Hagewood, D.V.M (thagewood@wwvhcares.com) Dr. Hagewood is a 1989 graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biology and biochemistry from Purdue University. She has been doing relief work for Warren Woods Veterinary Hospital since 2001. She has a special interest in pocket pets and soft tissue surgery. She has been an active member of Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association since 1990. She loves sports, camping and hiking. She attends Trainers Academy for agility with her canine friends “Theo” a Cavachon (cross between a King Cavalier and a Bichon), and “Aaralyn” the German shepherd. She has two teenage daughters and has been married since 1987. Her husband is also a veterinarian. |
