Nessa

Nessa

Bullet

Nessa is a brindle colored spayed female terrier mix who was found as a stray. She is approximately 40 lbs., and was born 9-8-08. She is up to date on all of her vaccines for the year. Her fecal test for intestinal parasites was negative and her heartworm test was also negative, so she can have heartworm preventative year round. She is a very sweet, loving girl who would love a home of her own. She gets along well with cats. This playful cutie would love to find a loving family. She would be best suited for a family with older children since she is still learning her manners and gets overly excited with young children. It is recommended that her new family enroll her in a dog obedience class to help her continue learning basic manners, and to help her bond with her new family. She is learning to sit, walk on leash and come when called. She is a busy dog who would love to learn to play fetch, go for long walks and maybe even learn a fun dog sport such as agility or rally.

ADOPTED: During the Winter 2010.

Bullet

This beautiful, dilute tortoiseshell, domestic long hair female is spayed and up to date on her vaccines for the year. She was turned in because she may have been urinating outside of her litter box. While here at the hospital she has had tests done on her urine and she may have crystal formation in her urine. She is on a special diet, and since coming to us has lost some weight, which is a good thing! She has been using her litter box here with no problems. She was overweight, and had matted fur on her abdomen, which may have been contributing to her difficulty in using her litter box.

Cats can be finicky, and some will not use a litter box if it is not big enough, if it is not cleaned daily, or if it is in an area of the home that is too noisy or difficult for her to get to. Cats prefer a large litter box in a quiet area, and it MUST be scooped daily! If you are unable to scoop a litter box daily, having a second litter box is advisable.

ADOPTED: During the Winter 2008.

In Penny's words:

I am a 9 year old miniature pinscher and I am diabetic. I was owned by a lovely woman for the first 8 years of my life and was loved and well cared for. My owner pampered me and took excellent care of me, but then she got cancer. I spent many hours sitting in her lap and keeping her company during her lengthy illness.

Unfortunately, my best friend passed away and left me behind. I was taken in by another family member that was unable to care for my diabetes properly. My body weight fell from my original 18lbs down to 6 lbs and I became blind due to cataracts. When the nice people at Warren Woods Veterinary Hospital saw my severe condition they offered to take me in and restore my health.

I have been here at Warren Woods for the last 6 months. In that time I have gained over 6 lbs. and had my eyes operated on to have my cataracts removed. I can now see very well and have a new outlook on life. I am in need of a home that has time to hold me and love me because I am a great lap dog. I am good with other dogs and cats; I ride very well in the car and take my insulin shots easily twice a day.

I love to go on walks and I am well house trained. I do need a special diabetic diet and an insulin injection twice a day. I will also need routine blood screening to keep up on my diabetes.

If you have room for me in your heart and your home, please talk to one of the WWVH team members.

ADOPTED: Penny has now been adopted and has a home as of October 2008.

Princess Buttercup

Princess Buttercup

Bullet
This beautiful cat is a domestic long hair tortoiseshell that was left in our flowerbed in a carrier one evening. We have no information about her life previous to her arrival at our hospital. We are estimating her age at about four to five years old. She has been here at our hospital for about two years. She is spayed, and she is not declawed. Her coat had been shaved and was growing back when she was left here. She now has a beautiful long coat and fluffy tail. She is up to date on her vaccines for the year, and is FeLeuk/FIV negative.

Princess Buttercup is a typical cat. She may need time to warm up to her new family and any cats in the house, but once she gets to know you, she is very sweet and loves to sit on laps. If possible, it is good to let a new cat have her own “cat-room” for a while until she is used to the resident cats. She seems to be good with dogs, doesn’t mind them, and is good with children who are gentle with cats. Like many cats, she might get over-stimulated with excessive petting, and might “smack” at your hand, this is a normal, typical cat behavior that we see with some more independent felines. She enjoys being brushed, and rubs on the brush when she is being groomed and will “talk” and purr to people she knows, and she will follow people around and rub on them. She took a short time to get used to our clinic, and the noise, and has accepted many of us as friends. She may need a short adjustment period when moving to a new home. She enjoys catnip, and uses her scratching post, and does allow us to trim her nails.

This wonderful cat would love a special home with someone who understands cats, and would give her the attention she craves. Princess Buttercup will be adopted out to an approved home, and we will make every effort to help her transition to her new home. Please talk to one of our team members for more information about this special girl.

ADOPTED: Princess Buttercup has now been adopted and has a home as of October 2008.

Bullet These two girls were brought in for foster care and were born on February 22, 2008. They have started their vaccines, are FeLV/FIV negative, have been dewormed once and their first stool sample was negative. They will need to be spayed at 6 months of age. They are both very loving, friendly girls and would love to have a home of their own.

They are both domestic shorthairs, and Martha’s color is tortoiseshell tabby with white, and Rose’s color is white with tortoiseshell tabby markings. They are used to other cats and are getting used to dogs. Both of these girls love attention and purr as soon as someone picks them up.

Oreo

Oreo

Bullet This lovely lady was found on the street by a client, who then brought her in and had her vaccinated, FeLV/FIV tested, fecal tested and examined before putting her up for adoption. She is about 3 years old and is fully vaccinated for the year, and was already spayed when she was found on the street. Her Health Screen was normal, her FeLV/FIV and fecal tests are negative. Oreo is very friendly and loves to be with people. She may need extra time to get used to other cats, as she is older but she loves people and is VERY talkative. She gets along with our hospital cats after slow introductions. Oreo would love a new home and a family to love her for the rest of her life.

ADOPTED: Oreo has now been adopted and has a home as of February 23, 2008.
